Petter Hjerpe is a professional artist from Munkfors who also works part-time as an art teacher. Hjerpe is educated in art and has been honoured with awards for his creative work. In recent years, art, together with music, has taken on an increasingly important place in his life.
When Hjerpe is not touring Europe and the USA with his band, Majestica, he enjoys spending time in nature, often in the forests of Värmland where he finds both peace and inspiration. His interest in fishing has also become a source of inspiration and helps him find ways through and with nature. Forests, streams, ponds and rivers in his home region are in his art mixed with an interest in fantasy and fairy tales, giving his works a unique sense of mystery and dreamlike environment.
In his artistic process, Hjerpe usually does not decide on beforehand what he will paint, but lets the image come to life when the brush reaches the canvas. Hjerpe paints with oil, letting spontaneity and freedom merge with nature and imagination in his work.
