The artist from Stockholm who uses lumen print technology to deliver the magic of the forest and fairy tale atmosphere in the thickets.
Catrin Schmeer grew up in Värmland and lives in Stockholm. She is artistically educated at the Graphic Arts School and Konstfack, among other places. She has worked with pattern design for textiles, computer games for children and book illustrations. Schmeer is currently developing an art project at the Stockholm School of Art and Design. The project is about finding similarities between cultures in time and space, through historical ornaments inspired by nature. A consolation job in an otherwise divided world…
Schmeer started another art project, Eye on the journey, as a journey to find her own visual language and perhaps also as a love letter to Värmland. The creation has its beginning in nature where she sees herself as an explorer and object seeker who collects treasures with her camera. An old spruce forest that feels like a cathedral, light reflections in a dark pond, a wind-whipped stump with moss. The forest is full of things that want to be found!
