Andreas Varro

July 5 – September 28 2025

Andreas Varro is a photo artist from Örebro, where he works and lives with his family. After working for eight years as a commercial photographer, he switched to a more experimental exploration, and photography took on a more artistic turn. Varro is self-taught and has worked visually for over 30 years. He has been awarded over sixty national and international awards and his art has been recognized from Sweden to Hong Kong, France and New York.

Varro says that he lost both of his parents as a teenager, which sparked a lifelong reflection on meaning, behavior and power. Varro is inspired by beauty coming from adversity, people’s darkness, free conversation and authenticity – the honestly vulnerable, which is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve in a society where surface often precedes depth.

The art that Varro creates often depicts how digital platforms shape our choices, with the aim of encouraging bravery, reflection and conversation in a society where it can be risky to express oneself. His surreal works are built with handmade props, stage construction and advanced digital image processing – where each image becomes a conversation about our time.

Experience Varro’s powerful photography! Surreal images that challenge our time – works that make the visitor question society and themself. A raw exhibition that wants to penetrate the surface we have built.
