Camilla Hyllén Leyon is an artist based in Gothenburg and Orust. In her twenties she began to seek artistic education and over the years Hyllén Leyon has explored different techniques and expressions, but her driving force has always been in painting. Her artistry is characterized by acrylic painting on canvas, cardboard and panel. Using pattern stamps, glitter and gold-leaf, she creates a sense of fairy tale in her works. She often casts the stamps herself. When she paints on cardboard or panel, she uses a more experimental method and mixes acrylic paint with other media such as oil pastel, which gives her works a unique texture and depth.
Hyllén Leyon finds inspiration for her paintings in many places – from books, music and travels, to her own children, and memories mixed with imagination. Her works often reflect a sense of other worlds where cities can be likened to patchwork quilts. She enjoys creating images that provoke thought; about conversation, friendship and imagination.
