JJanne Samuelsson, an artist from Filipstad, has been drawing and painting since childhood. Samuelsson is self-taught, except for an evening course in oil painting almost fifty years ago where he attended a few gatherings before he stopped and continued on his own. However, he developed a feeling for the technique and gradually found his own style and his own expression. Samuelsson has a number of exhibitions on his CV and has also been honored with awards for his artistry.
Samuelsson draws his inspiration from the tones of color and their expressive possibilities, as well as the people he meets. He is particularly interested in people in different situations and those who deviate from society’s idealized images. His art often depicts people who are marked by life, often portrayed far from the retouched ideals we see in the weekly press. They are people with different life circumstances, where each face and each expression tells its own story.
