Malin Janliden

MALIN JANLIDEN – the watercolor artist who lets her calm, abstract paintings serve a sense of freedom and a peaceful break from norms and rules.

MALIN JANLIDEN grew up in Hammarö and now lives in a small village in Övre Ullerud in Värmland. She is a trained communicator and has worked with communication and the web for ten years. Malin, who is self-taught, started painting at 18. She found paint and brushes when life was quickly turned upside down and has since continued to paint. To Malin, painting is pure joy and a way to be in the present moment. It is healing and gives space for calm and thoughtfulness.

Based on her background and her profession, she cannot help but see art as a big world that gives space to communicate with each other in different ways. A nice and important world that is needed as we all have different presumptions for conveying thoughts and feelings. She sometimes has the opposite idea that a work of art can just exist with its color and shape without having to tell so much. That it may exist solely for the viewer to have something to rest their eyes on, and that it may be a way and perhaps a help to disconnect all the impressions from the outside world for a while.

Malin usually paints abstract or semi-abstract. She likes to create something that is not predetermined. Abstract painting allows her to take a break from norms, rules, right and wrong. Like abstract painting, nature gives Malin a sense of freedom. There are also colors, shapes, patterns, structure, sounds, movements and light out there – and it has therefore become natural that she draws inspiration from nature, even if her paintings are not necessarily a representation of it. It also doesn’t matter if she thinks she has painted mountains, water or forest, in the end it is what the viewer sees and experiences that counts.

Malin likes trying different skills, and always has many ideas and thoughts that she wants to test. She likes to work with several techniques and to have different projects going on at the same time. She likes contrasts and variety. During the autumn exhibition, you will therefore have the opportunity to view a selection and a mixture of techniques in the form of various individual original paintings and series. The common denominator is earthy and calm tones.

Exhibitions start September 30
