The playful illustrator from Arvika who invites you to look at creative scenes where dogs and their friends are at the center.
My Nilzén is an artist who grew up in Stockholm, where she worked as a dancer for many years. In parallel with dancing, she has always had a great interest in drawing and visual arts. Thirty years ago she moved to Värmland, and after a few years she began a rewarding collaboration with Tilde Tryck in Arvika, where she has carried out various assignments in illustration and visual arts.
When Nilzén starts a work of art, she often has an idea or a feeling that she wants to capture and convey. She draws and cuts out figures, and from these the scene or image grows. By using paper cuts as her main material, she builds up stories that are both playful and thought-provoking. A large part of her inspiration comes from life with her own dogs and their friends. Many four-legged friends are often present during Nilzén’s artistic process, and they therefore add a dynamism and warmth to both the work and the results.
Nilzén presents the exhibition ”Du, jag & vännerna” (”You, Me & Friends”) where she invites visitors to step into a world where paper cuts and scenario take center stage. She hopes that her exhibition creates a sense of community and invites both reflection and joy.
