Robin Lindström och Synnöve Orebjörk

SYNNÖVE OREBJÖRK & ROBIN LINDSTRÖM – The stone sculptors from Värmskog who, through mythology and geology, give voice to what has been hidden, recreating balance and connection between man and nature.

”We are inspired by nature, by stones who speak to us. We want to liberate and shape the beings that are already in the stone. We go treasure hunting together and find all kinds of beautiful stones in our secret places. Each stone is carefully selected. We want to give voice to the hidden and forgotten and recreate the balance and connection between man and nature.”

Robin’s interest in art began early with a fondness for ancient sculptures and their megalithic structures. His own path began fifteen years ago when he worked as a carpenter and shaped wooden furniture. And Robin tells us that ”During a break in the work I saw ’her’, an angel appeared in the log that was in front of me. Then I took out the chainsaw and freed her.” Since then there have been many wooden sculptures. A few years ago, Robin was visited by a friend who showed him how to process and shape natural stone. One thing led to the other and together they created a sculpture park in Tällberg.

Synnöve has always been involved in various types of creation, but previously mainly painting. It was when she and Robin became a couple that she tried sculpting in stone for the first time. “And that was a completely different matter! Instead of starting with a blank piece of paper, it was as if the stone became what it wanted to become.” Synnöve explains that the self-criticism she previously experienced in her artistry is almost completely gone when she works with stone, because the stone itself is a co-creator.

For the second year in a row, Synnöve and Robin have had the honour of making prizes for the winners in the famous Swedish skiing race Vasaloppet. The sculptures are on the theme of Old Norse mythology, with interpretations of the gods ”Ullr” and ”Skade”, both connected to winter and skiing.

Robin and Synnöve’s stone sculptures can be found in both the art gallery and the garden, and the visitor can experience a series of sculptures shaped out of unusual stones from various findings. Several sculptures have been made in Värmland’s landscape stone kyanite quartzite. From these different stones, different creatures have emerged who are now seeking your attention!

Part of the exhibition is set to music by Karin Park.

A QR code next to each work enables the visitor to immerse themself in both geology and mythology.

Exhibition period: May 1st – September 29
